Single Access Surgery
Course descriptionWith the era of the new endoscopic surgery performed through the natural orifices (N.O.T.E.S.), laparoscopy can appear less invasive if the number of the abdominal incisions is reduced. The umbilicus represents a well-healed natural scar allowing access to the peritoneal cavity through a single-assess. The main advantage of the single-incision approach is the “scarless surgery” with an obvious cosmetic result, and probably a reduced postoperative pain. Hence the standard laparoscopic procedures can be performed with this new technique.DOWNLOAD POSTER |
Course Objectives-To show classical laparoscopic procedures (cholecystectomy, appendectomy, Nissen fundoplication) performed through a single-incision in the umbilicus-To review different instruments -To memorize the tricks of this approach |
